I am an Inuit conservation biologist from Utqiaġvik, Alaska. My expertise is in the conservation of lands, waters, and species in Arctic Indigenous homelands and my dissertation focuses how Indigenous communities shape conservation research, management, and the establishment of new protected areas. By promoting partnerships with Indigenous methodologies, knowledge, and governance, we can challenge the colonial legacy of conservation to develop culturally-relevant and evidence-based conservation efforts. I live full-time in the Arctic.
