The Washington Rare Plant Care and Conservation program within the University of Washington Botanic Gardens has received the 2020 Conservation Partner of the Year Award from the Washington Native Plant Society.

The WNPS Outstanding Partner Award is presented to an agency, organization, or individual which has made significant contributions to native plant conservation, research or education in Washington.

Rare Care builds partnerships with federal, state and local agencies to provide critical information needed in the conservation and recovery of our state’s native rare species. Citizen scientists and students participate in rare plant monitoring, ex situ conservation, reintroduction and education.

Everyone at SEFS would like to congratulate everyone at Rare Care, including Wendy Gibble, Stacy Kinsell and with all their volunteers throughout the state for this achievement!
