Growing up in Seattle, I dreamed about attending the University of Washington. The UW is a pillar of the Seattle community that offers major opportunities. The level of community involvement, programs, and reputation motivated me to seek opportunities here. The Theodore Roosevelt quote, “It is hard to fail but it’s worse never to have tried to succeed,” inspires me to pursue my goals despite any challenges that come my way. My passion for the environment and experiences in outdoor recreation motivates me to facilitate sustainably. Being naturally curious, my passion for nature pushes me to learn about the interaction of physical, biological, and social processes on ecological systems. I’m excited to explore new opportunities that further my experience in resource management and sustainability.

I’m currently a senior majoring in Environmental Science and Terrestrial Resource Management. I transferred here from Bellevue College with an associate degree in business. My interest in environmental science and sustainability brought me to SEFS where I am the lead student assistant in the main office. In this role I assist with daily operations, sponsored events, and data entry as well as process travel reimbursement requests for the finance team.

When I’m not working or studying, I spend as much time as I can outdoors and with my family. I love snowboarding, horseback riding, rock climbing, hiking, and camping. Outdoor recreation is a big part of my life where I’ve found a strong and supportive community. The outdoor recreation community is truly special for fostering connection and personal growth.

I also joined the UW Equestrian team last year. Our team’s mission is to create opportunities to access equestrian sports (historically, it’s been prohibitively expensive). Our team provides students with opportunities to take horseback riding lessons and compete at any riding level. I am excited to compete for the first time this year. This is something new and out of my comfort zone that’s pushing me to grow in other aspects of my life. I’m also enjoying the opportunity to connect with students pursuing degrees in other departments and universities.
