SEFS faculty members, Dr. Bratman and Dr. Kahn, publish research to help us better understand the relationship between our nose, natural environments and overall human well-being
A research paper released today in Science Advances details a conceptual framework designed to help us better understand the relationship between our nose, natural environments and overall human well-being. The research team was led by SEFS Assistant Professor Gregory Bratman who joined forces with Professor Peter Kahn and a group of experts from around the globe. They were looking to learn more about the often understudied relationship between the olfactory pathway, nature’s scents and our overall health. The research aims to further uncover how the “sense of smell influences quality of and satisfaction with life, emotion, emotion regulation, cognitive function, social interactions, dietary choices, stress and depressive symptoms.”
