SEFS Associate Professor, Laura Prugh, interviewed for Discover Magazine: how we can coexist with coyotes in suburban and urban areas
In an interview with Discover Magazine, SEFS Associate Professor, Laura Prugh points to her team’s research that reveals why coyotes have been taking to the suburbs in what appears to be increasingly large numbers over the years. It’s not to eat your pets or attack you, so rest assured coyotes are more of a nuisance than an actual threat. In a study published by the journal Science in 2023, Prugh’s team tracked 35 coyotes and other small carnivores over the course of five years across rural landscapes with substantial human influences.
