When it comes to wildfires, Washingtonians often think about the dry, eastern part of the state. While rare, wildfires do happen west of the Cascades, and School of Environmental and Forest Sciences assistant professor Brian J. Harvey focuses his research on them.

UW News recently published a story and video on Harvey’s work and why studying these rare fires is important to understanding Washington’s history with wildfires and planning ahead for future.
