The work of the School of Environmental and Forest SciencesDiversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee (DEI) has been highlighted in a news story on the UW College of the Environment‘s blog. Recently, the DEI Committee has bene focused on writing an inclusive Diversity Plan for SEFS that ensures that the school provides an equitable, supportive space for everyone, both as a member of the SEFS community and physically in the hallways, field sites and labs once classrooms open back up for in-person learning.

The Committee also created a diversity statement, approved via vote by SEFS faculty, that focused their work on creating a new DEI Plan that includes actionable steps. The plan contains five pillars encompassing all facets of the School’s mission, from leadership to recruitment to scholarship.
