SEFS Research Professor appointed to U.S. Urban Agriculture Advisory Committee
A UW School of Environmental and Forest Sciences research professor has been appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture to an advisory committee.
Professor Sally Brown was recently appointed by Secretary Tom Vilsack to the Urban Agriculture and Innovation Production Federal Advisory Committee, which aims to “advise the Secretary on the development of policies and outreach relating to urban, indoor and other emerging agricultural production practices,” the declaration read.
The Committee will advise Vilsack on the development of policies and outreach relating to urban, indoor and other emerging agricultural production practices.
“This is an opportunity for federal policymaking to benefit from Sally’s extensive experience and expertise in biosolids applications in urban agriculture and waste reduction,” said SEFS Director Dan Brown.
Brown’s research expertise focuses on restoration ecology, soil science and hydrology, and sustainable forest management. Sally Brown will serve two years on the committee.
