Student Academic Employees

Student Academic Employees at the University of Washington are governed by a contract between the University of Washington and UAW. Salaried positions at SEFS, such as research assistants (RAs) or teaching assistants (TAs), are paid at the general rates in the 2025-2026 Regular (Non-Variable Rate) TA/RA/SA Salary Schedule, according to the graduate student’s academic rank.

Effective July 1, 2025 the hourly wage paid for ASE hourly job titles will increase to:

• $33.03/hr – Graduate Reader/Grader, Lab Support, Field Trip Support
• $27.87/hr – Undergraduate Reader/Grader, Lab Support, Field Trip Support
• $27.87/hr – Undergraduate Teaching Assistant
• $25.54/hr – Undergraduate Research Assistant
