    Current and Past Research Interests

Aji earned his PhD from the Department of Biology at the University of Washington, where he was co-advised by Janneke Hille Ris Lambers and Ka Yee Yeung. Aji’s interests lie in exploring microclimatic patterns in forest understories and understanding the phenology of wildflower meadows, primarily using in-situ instrumentation and fine-resolution, high-resolution satellite imagery. He is currently working on a project to produce Wetland Intrinsic Potential (WIP) maps for Washington State. His research is driven by a strong desire to develop open-source instrumentation for environmental sensing and understanding plant physiology. He also actively works on developing workflows in climate adaptation to analyze large satellite and climate datasets across commercial Cloud platforms.
