Matt is an environmental sociologist by training with a background in visual ethnography and environmental communication. His past research explored media representations of environmental hazards, cases of rural environmental injustice, and indigenous environmental artwork as an effort to preserve culture. Currently, his focus is on understanding the psychosocial dimensions underpinning environmental self-efficacy, aiming to identify communication strategies that build community and empower individuals to advocate for themselves in the face of climate change risks.
