The minor in Environmental Science and Resource Management (ESRM) offers students exposure to the challenges facing terrestrial ecosystems, including conservation and restoration. Coursework provides a solid foundation for students interested in such areas as other fields of biology, environmental education, journalism, and public affairs.

Students must have declared a major and have completed at least 45 college credits to declare any UW minor.

Declare this minor through your major’s academic advisor.

Access to Courses for Non-ESRM Major Students

Most ESRM-prefixed courses are restricted to ESRM Majors only through Period 1 registration every quarter.

Minor Requirements

The minor requires at least 25 credits. The course breakdown is:

  • Twenty-five ESRM-prefixed course credits, 20 of which must be upper division (300 level or higher) – five credits are allowed from BSE and lower-division ESRM courses
