Humans of SEFS is a project that aims to highlight all the people that make up SEFS. Every person in SEFS brings something unique and individual to the table and this project aims to showcase the people who are a part of the SEFS community.

UW School of Environmental and Forest Sciences Professor Emeritus and former Washington Park Arboretum Director Dr. John A. Wott passed away on Aug. 28. He was 82.
Dr. Wott, who earned his bachelor’s degree in agricultural education from Ohio State University in 1961, and then his master’s degree (1966) and Ph.D.
One of the many natural wonders of Washington is located on the Olympic Peninsula: The Hoh Rainforest.
It’s also the location where UW School of Environmental and Forest Sciences fungi researcher Korena Mafune spends her days, climbing the tall trees to study moss and lichen.
